About

Ken Tanaka formed the instrumental band Hyakkei in 2003, playing drums and writing music. Around 2010 he began working solo alongside the band, developing a one-man style of layering sound with guitar, drums and loopers. In 2023 he moved to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where he turns everyday scenes and memories into lyrical instrumental music. His sixth solo album, Ashioto, was released in 2026, and Short Loops, a weekly series of short pieces, continues to grow.

With Hyakkei he released two full albums and an EP. The band is currently on hiatus, while its music continues to reach listeners worldwide through streaming.
